Julie Gerenrot, Treasurer, Principal Dancer

Julie originally hails from Kiev, Ukraine having immigrated to the US with her family at the age of 6. As a child and teen she was involved in both rhythmic and artistic gymnastics. Julie began her formal dance training at Gus Giordano Dance Center and as a scholarship student at Joel Hall Dance Center while getting her BA/MA in Economics from Northwestern. Training in ballet, jazz, modern and hip hop she soon became a second company member of Joel Hall Dancers. performing works by William Gill, Jarrett Kelly, Kirby Reed, Courtney Hischke, and Katy Kempen in numerous concerts. She also spent a year as a member of Framework Dance Chicago under the direction of Pia Hamilton and Jarrett Kelly.

Julie began her Latin dance training with Chris Manning and her apprenticeship with Inspiracion Dance Chicago in 2010. She has since become a principal company member, the company’s Treasurer, and helped to spearhead the effort to obtain IDC’s 501(c)3 status. IDC has given her the opportunity to train in mambo, salsa, bachata, flamenco, cha cha and argentine tango. Performance highlights include: Cultural Explosion's "Broadway Goes Latin," Hope through Dance, “Ray of Stars,” the Chicago Salsa Congress, the St. Louis Salsa Congress, Toronto Salsa Congress, San Francisco Salsa Congress, Orlando Salsa Congress and most recently “Los Secretos de Santa Monica”.
